Even before the NSW corruption watchdog handed down its latest finding, the Liberal Party had begun scrubbing its celebrations of former NSW premier Gladys Berejiklian from its online presence.
On Thursday, the NSW Independent Commission Against Corruption (ICAC) released its investigation into Berejiklian and former MP Daryl Maguire, finding that Berejiklian had engaged in “serious corrupt conduct”. The inquiry began as a probe into the possible corrupt conduct of Maguire — who potentially faces criminal charges — but expanded to the former Coalition premier after she was compelled to reveal the relationship in public hearings in 2020.
ICAC’s announcement of the corruption investigation prompted Berejiklian to resign as premier in 2021. Despite the seriousness of the investigation, parts of the Liberal Party and its leaders thanked her for her work.
The NSW Liberal Party tweeted: “On behalf of our members, thank you @GladysB for your outstanding service to our community, our state and our party.”
The tweet linked to a statement from then-NSW Liberal Party president Philip Ruddock who wrote that Berejiklian “always put the needs of the people of our state first”.
While the tweet remains, the statement was removed from the NSW Liberal Party website some time after November 10 2022, according to the Internet Archive. The URL for the statement now leads to a message saying: “The page you were looking for wasn’t found.”
Additionally, the Twitter accounts for both the Liberal Party of Australia and Liberal Party of NSW now have fewer tweets than they did last week. According to social media analytics website Social Blade, @LiberalAus and @LiberalNSW had 181 and nine fewer tweets respectively after last Thursday, suggesting tweets may have been deleted.
Other tributes to Berejiklian remain, notably across the Liberal Party’s various social media accounts, alongside those of figures including Scott Morrison and Josh Frydenberg.
It seems a certain self-entitled personality type is common in the sad lineup of LNP parasites. Now with Robert, Morrison and the rest, surely these miscreants deserve the boot, if not criminal charges.
Even after ICAC found Berejiklian guilty of “serious corrupt conduct” Matt Kean was busy saying there was no evidence to charge her. Even with the facts in front of them some Liberals just won’t accept it. Truely astonishing.
Denial is in their personality
They should Paywall their site then the pages won’t get archived
The question is, who’d pay to access it?
Property developers.
They already have a subscription……………..
Subscription suggests they pay for it – like me subscribing to Crikey.
I doubt they pay for any access.
The subscription being a percentage of the money they reap from “Rezoning”……………
Gotta keep them incentivized!
It is interesting to compare and contrast the media treatment of Gladys Berejiklian, who was embroiled in actual corruption, with that of Dan Andrews, who has been endlessly hounded over beat-ups.
I actually have some sympathy for Shredder’s candour – working in the Liberal Party boiler room, any wonder she saw pork barreling as de rigueur?
Cam Wilson – on The Drum tonight – can you ask why there’s been 39 Coalition office bearers on The Drum this year (fourth time for Yabsley) : compared to 12 from Labor (Scott 2) and 4 Greens?
And why, if “Labor Party members” are labelled on The Drum’s facebook c.v. : the likes of Erin Watson(-Lynn – chosen by Julie Bishop as her successor in Curtin) and Dinesh Palipana (stood for Liberal pre-selection in Fadden) aren’t?
Why Mudroch influencer media guests are never asked to explain their company’s political bias/games m.o?
… They shut down their Facebook page for query/comment.
What a disgraceful effort from the Drum! 4 Greens when it should be zero greens.
A somewhat silly comment?
Sarcasm…………
…. Why the likes of Watson(-Lynn) and Palipana – with their party affiliations – aren’t labelled “Liberal Party members” ….
Tonight, a continuation of discussion of the fall out from the ICAC investigation – and guess how many (ex)politicians are on the panel and which party Fiona Scott is was elected to represent in Lindsay?
Last night (July 05) that tally out to 41 : 13 : 4.
Tuesday – July 04 – the ever easily-distracted Craig “Beau” Emerson – a Labor face more likely to be there when Fanning is hosting. Of 13 Labor appearances from historical officials, this year, he’s been 5 of them : the other 8 appearances from 6 other individuals.
Last night Chikarovski – fourth time this year – of 41 Coalition ‘guest spots’ shared among 17 individuals. Sally Branson’s been on 5 times.
Tonight – findings of the Robodebt RC :- guess how many ‘(ex)party officials’ on the panel. Then guess which party that single person, Kate Carnell, was a Liberal ACT Chief Minister for?
Carnell of all people? With her public office record – which led to her ousting from her position of ACT Chief Minister – holding forth on ‘ethical behaviour in government’ while trying to lay off more blame to ‘a PS that wouldn’t stand up to political masters and give full and frank advice’? ….
“An afternoon at a NSW winery, driving home, having an accident in her car, a following developer picking her up and whisking her away from the scene, over the border to the ACT, away from NSW police – the subsequent government contracts awarded to that contractor……Bruce Stadium cost blowout… Promoting that family day out at the exploded demolition of the Canberra hospital…” No irony there?
42 : 13 : 4
July 10, to discuss the wrap-up, fall-out effects and effects on the PS, of Robodebt = one politician/party official. Guess which party Trent Zimmerman stood in parliament for…..
That tally = 42 : 13 : 4.
