They were singing “Should auld
acquaintance be forgot” at the sixth National Local Roads and Transport
Congress in Tasmania yesterday as John Anderson made a swansong appearance.

The
outgoing deputy prime minister flagged the possibility of a further
tranche of roads to recovery funding. Ando said the $1.2 billion
recovery program had been extended this month for four years – but that
a third phase may be necessary to maintain and upgrade local roads,
particularly in rural Australia.

In marginal seats? Marginal National seats? As they say in the classics, I can feel a dam coming on.
