“Is new Human Services Minister Joe Hockey in breach of his own Department’s online protocol?” we asked on Monday. “The Community & Public Sector Union thinks he might be… Bosses are not only targeting rogue web-surfers, but also cracking down on staff who use the Centrelink system to pass on CPSU union bulletins about pay negotiations on the grounds that they are ‘political’.”
We told how the Centrelink website linked through to Hockey’s personal home page, rather than his official ministerial presence online – how it connected to a personal website that invites visitors to join the Liberal Party, make donations, or become a “friend of Joe”. A “political” site in other words.
Yesterday, the Centrelink site was directing visitors to Hockey’s bog standard Parliament House page and the Centrelink email network was very, very busy with copies of our article whizzing round.
