AWB (1): You may want to ask how much of the $300 million (in
most cases physical cash) found its way into the pockets of certain AWB
executives and how much went into Austrade pockets. Rumour is about 1%
stuck to certain fingers.
AWB (2): The AWB was a statutory authority prior to 1999, under
the direct control of the government. Kickbacks were being paid during
the period to 1999. This government knew about that. If you think
kickbacks just started with the Oil for Food Program think again.
Downer is worried that this question will be asked at the Cole Enquiry.
