For the first time this year, the Nine Network is smiling. Despite cost-cutting and low morale, Nine last night managed to move past Seven and its Desperate Housewives super hit, thanks to that Nanny. Coming after a big win on Sunday night when Nine showed new episodes of CSI and CSI Miami and won big time, it’s set the network up for its third weekly win in a row.

But Nine execs won’t be popping corks quite yet. With only one more episode of Super Nanny to go next Monday, and Survivor Palau coming to an end on Tuesdays, the good run may not last. And Nine doesn’t have another program to drop into either the Monday or Tuesday nights timeslots at 7:30pm.

Seven also has problems. Tonight, Dancing with the Stars has a boys’ dance-off and next week it has a girls’ dance off. After that, it has to find another program to hold some of the 1.8 million viewers it averaged up to last week’s huge finals audience of 2.3 million.

Nine won Monday night with 31.5% share to Seven on 30.7%, Ten on 16.9%, the ABC on 14.6% and SBS on 6.3%. This was after Nine had easily won Sunday night with a 37.6% share to Seven on 24.1%.

Interestingly Four Corners and Media Watch lost ground last night, attracting 544,000 and 534,000 people respectively.
