Controversial broadcaster and sometime “beast” Stan Zemanek has
launched a new PR agency called Metro Media Communications. The new
spin company will support
Zemanek’s four-year-old advertising agency Metro Media Advertising, of
which he
is executive chairman.
The venture is a handy add-on to Zemanek’s ad agency and the controversial broadcaster of
35-years standing, who sometimes
features on pay TV’s Beauty and the Beast, hopes to use his media
experience and high profile to open doors for clients.
It’s believed that apart from the usual PR offerings, the new company
will also get involved in sporting sponsorship management and naming
rights negotiations.
Zemanek, who’s a regular presenter on Sydney talkback station
2UE, told Crikey there were policies in place to prevent any
cash-for-comment type conflicts of interest arising. We can only assume
they’re the same policy that led 2UE’s management to duck for cover
when it
was revealed the night-time host was paying an actor to make phoney
calls to his show.
At least Zemanek has demonstrated a penchant for spin.
