Tuesday night and another close win to the Seven Network,
thanks to its third ‘juggernaut” Dancing with the Stars, and good efforts
by All Saints, Today Tonight and Home and Away.

Sanity returned in the 6pm battle between Nine and Seven, with Nine resuming its customary national
lead, but Seven’s now customary lead continued in Sydney in News while in the
national and Sydney battle at 6.30pm between A Current Affair and Today
Tonight, Seven was again the victor.

However Nine News in Sydney and ACA nationally and in Sydney
seem to be a little firmer this week in audience numbers and the gap between
them and the Seven programs is not as large as it has been in recent weeks.

But Nine’s attempts to stop Seven on Tuesday nights is
continuing to consume episodes of the new CSI: New York and repeats of the
original CSI program for no real impact (except to stop Seven running away with
Tuesday nights).

Nationally Dancing with the Stars again blitzed Nine over the 90 minutes from 7.30pm to 9pm with 1.833
million viewers turning in on average. The peak was 1.97 million people.

CSI: New York ran second with 1.510 million, good numbers at
9.30 pm but by running a repeat of CSI ahead of it at 8.30pm (1.50 million), missed putting any pressure on Seven.

Seven’s All Saints (at 9pm start),
straddling the last and first halves of the two CSI programs, finished 4th
nationally with a solid 1.388 million.

But in Sydney All Saints (even
though not up against both programs directly) still managed to top them with
447,900 people. CSI: New York was watched by 440,900 and the repeat CSI by
391,700. All Saints finished second in Sydney behind Dancing, and did well (but not quite as well) interstate.

Survivor: Palau
ended up with 13th place and 1.013 million, down a little on its start a week
ago. This seems to be around its core audience but for Nine, Survivor has had
no impact on viewing levels of Dancing with the Stars, which must be a
disappointment.

Seven won with 31.1% to Nine’s 29.0%, Ten
down under 20% on 19.3%, the ABC on 15.0% and SBS on 5.7% (our new Ashes
Network!) In Sydney Seven won bigger, 33.2% to 28.1%, won Melbourne, lost
Brisbane to Nine (its a CSI town and Dancing with the Stars doesn’t click as
well up there), won Adelaide and won Perth.
