There’s a long tradition of stunts
and hoaxes in commercial radio, but not many of them work as well as
the stunt pulled by Sydney’s WSFM breakfast duo Brendan Jones and
Amanda Keller earlier this month.
Jones recently pretended to be
a radio neophyte looking for a break into the industry and sent out a
deliberately dodgy radio audition cassette to a number of rivals.
After
he received some fairly straight “thanks and good luck” letters from
John Laws and Alan Jones, he thought that would be the end of that. But
then Kyle Sandilands and Jackie O on 2Day FM got hold of the tape and
put it to air.
