Quote of the day:
“…I’m no Bill Gates here and I don’t claim to be any kind of tech head in all of this.” — Tony Abbott fails another 7:30 Reportland test, stumbling in his explanation on the Coalition’s broadband policy under grilling from Kerry O’Brien.
Labor was savage in its response, with campaign spokesperson Chris Bowen telling Lateline: “Tony Abbott showed on your network earlier today he doesn’t understand broadband, he doesn’t understand its economic importance, doesn’t understand its importance to small business. Frankly, it shows his lack of judgment.”
Tony, you don’t *need* to be a tech-head to get advice from one about this. Coming up with the policy that you did demonstrates that either you didn’t do this, or you got advice from someone who wasn’t competent to advise you. That’s where your judgement failed. Again.
So, Tony has a new “plan” for reinforcing the backbone of the system and absolutely no plan for connecting it to customers. Thanks for nothing, Tony.
