Khemlani eyes Miss World: Keep an eye out for this one: Hosting the 2008 Miss World contest could
do for Brisbane what the Olympics did for Sydney, our friend Michael
Johnson says – and he’s formed a committee to lobby for the event.
“This competition has an audience of almost three billion so it’s going
to
be great jobs, great for the economy,” he told the ABC. “This is
a showcase to the world as the Olympics did for Sydney.” Check with his
office later today to see if the “Kuties for Khemlani” t-shirts are
available yet.

Lachie’s real reason for leaving: Earlier this week, we quoted Murdoch hack Terry McCrann on young Lachlan’s departure from the News Corp fold.
Looking at it again, he really could have come up with better wording. Lachlan left because he wants more time with
wife Sarah. So it was unfortunate for Terry to say: “His departure really was
influenced to a significant degree by his desire to root his new family in Australia.”

The Consulting Room is open: Dark ‘n’ dirty deeds today. “I was young
when Nixon resigned before he could be impeached and watched the Clinton impeachment
process,” Simon writes. “Do we have anything that’s equivalent and how do our
politicians tough it out?” Put politics on the couch in The Consulting Room and
by getting your questions to consultingroom@crikey.com.au.
