Here comes the interview we’ve all
been waiting for. Iron Mark Latham and the waif-like Andrew Denton will
meet at the ABC in Sydney on 14 September to pre-record an Enough Rope, which will go to air on 19 September.
Melbourne
University Press is nervously guarding the print exclusive it has with
News Ltd, so media access will be tough and very difficult. While
understandable, this paranoia is apparently very high. The News deal is
one of the biggest print rights deasl in Australian history: talk is
that it’s around $100,000. Enough Rope on the other hand has paid no money for its interview.
Crikey understands The Latham Diaries
are a non-stop attack on the Labor Party and key operatives inside the
party, and goes much, much harder than the recently-published Bernard
Lagan biography of Latham.
Denton started the year with
Princess Mary who proved to be calm, level headed and quite charming.
Now the program will end with a right drama queen who tends to be
erratic. But it will be good TV.
