Mike Munro has re-signed with Nine. Munro is right up Sam Chisholm’s alley as a news and current affairs presenter – he’s approaching Cocoon age, looks authoritative, and he’s expensive.
When Munro was punted from fronting A Current Affair almost three years ago he was earning more than $900,000 a year. For 18 months he did nothing except This is Your Life and the odd 60 Minutes junket. Then he got the unwatched 4:30pm news in partial competition against Seven, and was promoted to read the Saturday evening news when Georgie Gardiner went on maternity leave.
How long before he’s pitched into the 6pm slot Monday to Friday?
