A friend of mine with aviation connections posted the following tweet earlier this afternoon:
RAAF Roulettes are due to fly over Alice Springs at aprx 2pm local time – 3500ft, east of Anzac Hill then land at airport.
OK I thought, will I stay here at Eastside or take a run out to the airport? If I stayed at home they might just fly overhead and I might grab a few shots. Slackness and lunch made up my mind for me so I stayed home and was treated to a great show from my front door.
I thought it might be a bit of a squib, after all my mate said that they would be at 3,500 feet…but I was delighted to see that not only did they fly low…very low and very fast…but they also flew right over my house – or so it seemed – more than once.
And, from the screams and “oohs” from the school down the road it sounded like the kids enjoyed the show as well.
You can see – and read – more about the RAAF Roulettes, their planes and where and how they fly them at their website here.
Thanks for the great show guys!
