Is Gerry Harvey stalking Bill Express, the listed tech company notable for sponsoring the St Kilda AFL team? The company has a suite of products that enables bill payments to be made at newsagents on its network. It also sells mobile phone cards and recharges, mobile eft and mobile advertising services.

In short it’s a virtual retailing business, just the sort of thing to interest Gerry Harvey. His private company took 10% in the float last year and has built that past 11% by taking a placement of 6.6 million shares (see here). Macquarie Bank placed 24.88 million shares, and Harvey took up a quarter of those to boost his stake.

The company is trading at 24c, above its issue price of 20c last October.
