Nothing like getting the gospel according to PBL when writing about the Packer Empire. The Australian‘s media writer Jane Schulze produced an interesting story throwing a mug of cold water over speculation that Kerry Packer was selling the Nine Network. Sort of.
It’s more realistic than some of the fairytales being told in other parts of The Australian in recent weeks. So where did Schulz get her information?
Jane
got a good briefing on the Packer/PBL view of the tale a few days
before from the PBL spinner Mark Westfield, himself a long time former
finance hack and columnist for News Ltd. They were sighted in a Surry
Hills cafe chowing down informally and discussing things. Read the
piece. It may force excitable media analysts to think again.
