The fourth night since the end of daylight saving and it’s quite apparent that viewing audiences are rising as darkness falls in the late afternoon. Especially in the 6pm to 7pm news and current affairs battle. The Nine Network has got a boost, while at 5pm, the Ten News has also seen a lift in viewing numbers.

Last night saw a national win to Nine News over Seven, and a narrow win in Sydney, but the woes of A Current Affair continue with the Nine program still second behind Today Tonight.

But both Nine News in Sydney and ACA have lifted their audience in the past week and will look to do the same tonight, especially ACA when it carries the paid for interview with Ron Vigenser, the Melbourne jailbird allegedly involved in the Schapelle Corby case in Bali.

Nine won the night, as it does every Wednesday either in or out of ratings with a share of 32.2% to Seven on 27.3%, the ABC on 16.9% and SBS on 4.1%. Nine won every market.

The repeat of CSI Miami was the most watched program, but Home and Away was second in solid result for Seven. Nine News was third, 142,000 viewers ahead of Seven in 8th spot. In Sydney Nine won narrowly, 370,000 to 361,000 viewers.

Today Tonight finished 7th with 1.359 million viewers while ACA was 10th, 144,000 people behind. In Sydney TT won by 33,000 viewers with an average audience of 363,000.

In Sydney the most watched show was Home and Away for Seven with 454,000 viewers while in Melbourne it was Seven’s Blue Heelers with 483,000 people. In Brisbane it was the repeat of CSI Miami with 316,000, in Adelaide it was the Nine one-off Super Nanny (instead of McLeod’s Daughters) with 150,000 while in Perth it was CSI Miami.
