Some of us had been messing around with re-naming Telstra Stadium in
Sydney, Trujillo Stadium. Well, it turns out there really is a Trujillo
Stadium in Peru – venue of the current U17 World Youth (Soccer)
Championships. Here’s some information from the FIFA website:

Known as “the city of eternal spring”, Trujillo is the principal urban
centre of northern Peru. The city is renowned for the warmth of its
people and still has a distinct colonial feel with its period
architecture and century old places of worship. As one would expect
given its origins, Trujillo abounds with impressive mansions, palaces
and churches, many built among the city’s picturesque palm groves. At
just 34m above sea level, Trujillo is flanked by pleasant beaches
within easy reach of the city, which are particularly popular among
surfers. For those interested in history or archaeology, there are a
series of fascinating remains dotted around the outskirts of the city,
which provide absorbing viewing. Trujillo is also an important economic
and cultural centre known for its love of traditional dance like the
marinera and its expertise is breeding the famous Paso horses. It has a
mild and dry climate all year round with the highest temperatures
coming in the summer months, December to March.
