I took interest in the advertisement for ‘mediatart.com.au’ earlier this week – not just because I am one, but also because it flagrantly flouts the rules governing Australian domain licences.
Licence holders are not permitted to sell an ‘.au’ domain. I could perhaps forgive a fellow media tart as ‘enterprising’ (but I would have to forgive ticket scalpers, to be fair) in seeking to gain nearly 100 times the cost price of the domain. However, imagine if a poor crikey subscriber paid $5,000 for a domain name and then some killjoy (who knows the rules) came along and successfully disputed the transfer of licence and our buyer ended up with nothing but a $5k lesson. Nasty.

CRIKEY: Meanwhile, apologies for the University of Adelaide advertisement that was run on Friday 4 March and Tuesday 8 March. Unfortunately we ran the wrong link on both occasions, the correct URL address is https://www.adelaide.edu.au/professions.
