A two-page “To all staff” memo from ABC Human Resources Director Colin Palmer on workplace surveillance has reached Crikey. While much of it is concerned with protecting ABC assets, some aspects of the surveillance have got eyebrows raised – like “Information Technology Surveillance.”
IT, according to the memo, is able to “take over, remote control or quarantine a computer; view all emails, their path and relevant delivery information, both for current and archived material.”
In other words, if you’re going to leak to the ABC, forget about email.
