Golden oldies and country dominate this week’s chart.
It’s golden oldies time. Labor’s Bob McMullan is the week’s
chartbuster – up an amazing 126 places. He’s hasn’t ranked so high
since he was shadow treasurer. Amazing what an appearance on the Sunday
morning shows does for your popularity – even though Mark Latham would
have preferred to see him languishing in obscurity.
There
are more than enough nostalgia acts on Labor’s backbench – and Latham
must be acutely aware of how much popularity they still enjoy.
Better
news for the Labor leader was De Anne Kelly’s Number Three. Her chart
efforts have caused considerable pain for the Government due to their
controversial content.
>Still, music biz insiders say
her manager, Honest Johnny Howard, has a great idea for her next
release. It’s going to be a cover of a classic from Abbey Road. Yes.
That’s right. Good guess. “You Never Give Me Your Money”.
