We have been having a look at the number of Special
Executive Service (SES Public Servants) paid by the Federal Govt who earn more
than backbenchers.
Last figures indicate there are around 2000. It would
interesting to find out how many there were 10 years ago. Plus you will also
find there has been a huge disparity growing between the SES salary bands &
backbenchers. I think it all went back to Hawke or Keating’s time, when
the automatic indexation between Public Servants & backbenchers was
severed.
