Thank you for your electronic message dated 23 December 2005 to the Australian Federal Police (AFP) concerning broadcasting of text messages by Alan Jones on Radio 2GB.

All referrals received by the AFP are presented before the Operations Committee (OC) for assessment. In doing so, the OC takes into account a number of factors including the nature of the alleged crime, the gravity/sensitivity of the matter, the effect of the criminality involved, the current investigational workload and available resources.

The circumstances that you have outlined do not fall within the jurisdiction of the AFP to investigate, however are potentially a matter for state Police to evaluate.

I note from your correspondence, that you have provided this information to ASIO and the New South Wales Police. We again forwarded the information to the NSW Police for their attention and action deemed necessary.
