Glenn Dyer reports:

The Winners

Nine in a closeish night of competition. Nine News regained
the Number One mantle nationally, thanks to a big win in Melbourne. Ten’s House
(1.556 million) was number one with 1.556 million people, Nine News was second
(1.459 million). A Current Affair (1.420 million) also beat Today Tonight (1.405
million) on Seven thanks to wins in Sydney and Melbourne in particular. Home and
Away
beat Temptation by just 2,000 or so viewers. Spick and Specs, sorry Spicks
and Specks,
nudged the million mark again (991,800)
The Losers

No real losers again, But Seven’s science show, Beyond
Tomorrow
seems to be fading with another lowish audience number of 1.180
million. That’s about 200,000-300,000 down on what it was getting when it
started. McLeod’s Daughters wasn’t a loser at 1.324 million and hasn’t been
hurt by the poor performance of its clone, The Alice. The ABC’s humour program We
can be Heroes
at 9 pm is not enticing viewers. The Glasshouse at 9.30 pm had a
bigger audience, 876,600 versus 702,800. Nine’s Without a Trace was watched by
1.185 million, and could be a bit of a
fader.

News & CA

Nine News and A Current Affair
scored a rare win over Seven News and Today. However, Seven News still beat Nine
News in Sydney by 39,000 or so viewers, but ACA beat TT. Not even the usual big
wins in Perth could push Seven News and TT past Nine’s duo last
night.
The Stats

Nine won 28.6% to Seven on 26.4%, Ten with 24.8% was
third, the ABC had a 15.7% share and SBS was on 4.5%. Nine won everywhere bar
Perth. In Brisbane, Ten was second and Seven was third. And Ten and Seven dead
heated for second in Adelaide. Ten beat Nine in Perth into
second place.
Glenn Dyer’s
comments

A relieving win for Nine last night. They led the week by a
point, 28.3% to Seven’s 27.3%. Seven will win tonight because of Lost and The
Amazing Race
,
while Ten will dip into a hole. The third Test on the SBS will drain
viewers from the Networks but Ten and the ABC will suffer the most,
judging by what happened on the first day of the first and second tests.
