The Winners Seven in a strong effort in another fairly even battle between the three commercial networks, with a good showing by the ABC.
Ten’s House was the most watched program with 1.67 million people and NCIS,
which followed it, was 4th with 1.395 million for its season finale. Ten won the
16 to 39 group and the 25 to 54. Seven’s Home and Away again easily accounted
for Temptation, which must be starting to concern Nine. McCleod’s Daughters did well for Nine at 7.30pm with 1.341
million. But CSI Miami had just 765,000 in repeat. If viewers are
turning away from the CSIs (and there aren’t enough for a full year’s
programming, repeats are needed) then Nine is in trouble next
year.
The Losers

Nine’s weaknesses in the mid-evening were exposed for a third night in a row. It’s going to be a
tough end to the year for the “Still The One” Network. The way CSI Miami faded was
matched by the slump in the audience for Without a Trace (just 702,000). That
pushed Nine into third place behind Seven and Ten, which
hurts.
News & CA Seven News, especially in Sydney where it
and Today Tonight again had solid wins. Nine News and ACA won Melbourne and
Brisbane, Seven News and TT won Adelaide and Perth. The ABC News was the broadcaster’s best program with 1.020
million. The 7.30 Report jumped back
above 900,000 as viewers tuned in for The New Inventors at 8pm (986,000) and
Spicks and Specks (992,000).
The Stats Seven with 27.6% to Ten with 26.1% and Nine in third
with 25.2%. If it hadn’t been for the Brownlow on Monday night Nine would be
in hurting more across the country. As it is Seven leads in Sydney for the week.
Seven won Sydney, Melbourne and Perth last night. Nine won Brisbane and Ten won
Adelaide.

comments		 The discussion of last night at the various networks will be
interesting today. Seven will be happy, the whole schedule seemed to work, even
if Forensic Investigators at 9.30pm is still weakening (down to 900,000 viewers).
Ten would have been quite chuffed, wins in two demographics they chase (but
don’t tell anyone they’re still interested in 25 to 54). There will be gloom all around at Nine,
if denial hasn’t stopped discussion. Tonight should be a better night for Nine,
Seven remains weak on Thursday nights and Ten will do
OK.
