The 7pm ABC news averaged 1.038 million. Nine’s repeat of Two and a Half Men at 7.30pm averaged 1.011 million and Nine News just made the list with 1.006 million for seventh spot. Seven’s The Rich List averaged 993,000 at 7.30pm and Seven’s 7pm program, How I met Your Mother averaged 919,000. The Losers: Army Wives on Ten at 9.30pm, 440,000 diehard fans. Fringe on Nine, 602,000 at 9.30pm. How To Look Good Naked on Ten at 7.30pm, 578,000. The repeat of Law And Order CI at 8.30pm, 613,000.

News & CA: Seven News again won nationally and in every market as did Today Tonight. Nine was weaker in Melbourne than Sydney in something of a surprise. The 7pm ABC News finished ahead of Nine in the Sydney and Melbourne rankings last night. The 7.30 Report averaged 799,000. The late News around 10.50pm, 259,000. Ten News averaged 866,000; the late News/Sports Tonight averaged 239,000. SBS News at 6.30pm, 211,000 and 223,000 at 9.30pm for the late edition. 7am Sunrise, 357,000, 7am Today, 286,000.

The Stats: Seven won with a share of 31.1% (28.8% last Monday night) from Nine on 25.1% (23.1%), the ABC with 18.0% (23.9%); Ten on 15.0% (14.6%), SBS with 10.8% (9.7%). Seven won all five metro markets and leads the week 30.7% to 23.0%. In regional areas a win to Prime/7Qld with 29.6%, from WIN/NBN with 24.1%, the ABC and Southern Cross (Ten) tied on 16.8% and SBS on 12.7%.

Glenn Dyer’s comments: The 7pm ABC news was the only program with a million or more viewers for the national broadcaster. Ten had nothing (now usual on a summer’s Monday night). Top Gear’s 900,000 plus audience was larger than anything on Ten. Apart from Top Gear there was nothing really to hold viewer attention after the News and Current Affairs programs from 6pm to 7.30pm.

Tonight: Party Animals on the ABC at 8.30pm for those who want to lower their IQs. Apart from that, read a book after the news and current affairs programs — it’s a desert after 7pm…
