Australia plays England in a day night match (in England) which means
the game starts late here, about 11pm and will be up against Wimbledon.
Without Mr Bec Cartwright playing (AKA Lleyton Hewitt), the cricket
should win.Wimbledon averaged 567,800 viewers from 10.34 pm to well
past midnight last night because of the Hewitt match, which went to
four sets. That probably gave Nine enough juice late in the night to
make sure of its win.

But tonight when Dad’s Army having fought back last week, Seven’s
cricket should win. But the really interesting battle will be from 6 am
to the finish around 7 am tomorrow. That’s normally the early morning
news battle between Seven and Nine, which Seven wins.

But with the cricket there and up against Nine’s struggling early
morning news, will viewers want up to date information, or to watch the
Australians in action. All depends on the state of the match. Nine is
hoping Hewitt continues his winning form, but if he makes the semi
finals on Friday he could be up against Roger Federer (assuming he
wins). Mine’s hopes of a huge late night audience next Sunday night
will be dashed!

Seven will be hoping that the final of the triangular day series
between Australia and England this Saturday night (a day game) will do
well on a low viewing night.
