Views on Aurukun. A few people have wondered “What are indigenous people saying”? in the fallout of the Aurukun gang-rape case. I’ve tried to gather some voices. If you’ve seen others, please add a pointer to them. — Selective and Arbitrary
It’s mathemagic! In a lively performance, “mathemagician” Arthur Benjamin races a team of calculators to figure out 3-digit squares in his head, performs a massive mental calculation, and guesses a few birth days. How does he do it? He’ll be happy to tell you. —TEDblog
Virtual raffle for charity. For the fourth year in a row, food bloggers around the world are answering Pim‘s call to participate in a fundraising campaign that will benefit the United Nations’ World Food Programme and more specifically, their school feeding program in Lesotho, which provides breakfast and lunch to 137,000 children across the country. This fundraising works as a virtual raffle. Every US$10 you donate will buy you a raffle ticket to win one of the prizes contributed by participating bloggers. — Chocolate & Zucchini

The photo that made me laugh — nay, snort my tea — was the first one, of the White Ribbon Foundation Chairman, Andrew O’K (from shows I’ve never seen: Weekend Sunrise, Deal or No Deal). Let me set the scene… — Ampersand Duck
Why I’m being complained about. The news of the “human rights” complaint over the Maclean’s excerpt of my book has been out there a week or so now, and I’ve had a lot of queries from folks seeking clarification of this and clarifications of that. The Canadian Islamic Congress has sought relief from three bodies so far: the Canadian Human Rights Commission, the British Columbia Human Rights Commission and the Ontario Human Rights Commission. These are all in PDF form, so you can tell they’re the real deal. We’ll start with the shortest, just in case you’re in a motel in Mexico on a slow dial-up… — Steyn online
