This advice was ignored but seven years later did Thomson expect a staffer to take the fall for his error? Former Wills MP Bob Hawke was determined that this wouldn’t happen and in consultation with Kevin Rudd it was decided that Senators Robert Ray and John Faulkner would visit Thomson to resolve matters.
