The religious right is on the march in the Victorian Liberal Party – again in the Young Liberals – but they seem to be missing the successes of their colleagues north of the border.
A counter attack led by prominent former party vice president Inga Peulich blocked the preselection in Ferntree Gully of Emmanel Ciccello, a former Young Liberal who appears on a televangelist show on public access TV Channel 31 for Italian Pentecostals.
Their next target is candidate for the Southern Metropolitan Region in the Legislative Council, David Southwick. Another scalp being lined up is Sarah Meredith, the Right’s candidate for Young Liberal President.
