Former SAS Brigadier Jim Wallace was a media darling during the Iraq war in 2003. More recently, he’s turned up as the executive chairman of the Australian Christian Lobby.
On its website, Wallace talks about “the ACL’s growing relations with
parliamentarians on all sides of politics and the opportunities that
this is opening for us.” It tells how Kimbo’s going to be talking to
the ACL’s national conference – Values: Building a Nation of Character
in Canberra – in October.
After the new Anglican Primate of
Australia, Phillip Aspinall, mentioned the government’s industrial
relations laws, Peter Costello mused out aloud on Monday (here) that “just because he has a theological degree doesn’t mean he’s an IR expert.” Aspinall also has an MBA. That must count for something.
Wallace turned up on the ABC
yesterday morning wearing his old tin hat. He defended the government’s
decision to withdraw troops from Afghanistan almost three years ago and
talked about a new Afghan deployment. He was out on Radio National’s
breakfast program again his morning.
Will he get chided by the treasurer, too, for venturing away from religious matters?
And talking about qualifications, Costello can talk about workplace
matters as a former industrial relations barrister who’s published on
the arbitration system. But what about Workplace Relation Minister
Kevin Andrews? Check out his CV (here).
