Regional TV revenue slumps, too
Figures
just released show that ad revenues in regional TV in Australia over the six
months to June 2005 slumped further than they did in the five major metro
markets.
The
figures from Free Television Australia show that regional revenues
rose just 4.68% to a total of $356.2 million, compared with the 6.49% rise for
metro free-to-air TV revenues in the same period.
That took the total rise in ad revenues for all FTA TV to $1.634
billion, a rise of 6.09%, which puts revenues for the year on track to
top $3.4 billion by the end of December. This compares with a 12.89%
rise in total revenues last year.
The
booming West Australian economy shows up in the 8.41% growth in revenues for
regional TV in that state to $19 million. That’s where the minerals boom is
happening.
