Please be advised the the next meeting of the Sydney University Liberal Club shall take place on Wed, the 16th of August at 1:00pm in the Holme Reading room. Furthurmore, please keep the evening of Thursday 17th of August free for a Liberal Student drinks night. We shall be meeting at 8:30pm at the Lord Nelson, Corner of Kent and Argyle streets.

8. Motions on Notice:
#1: a) The SULC recognises that criminal activity perpetrated by those of Middle Eastern descent is a growing, and serious, problem.
b) The SULC condemns Morris Iemma and the State Labor government for not taking a tougher stance on criminal activity in this community.
c) The SULC also condemns the lack of action against retaliatory attacks perpetrated by this group after the Cronulla riots.#2: The SULC supports Tony Abbott’s calls for a “new paternalism” in remote indigenous communities, rather than the model of self-management and no-strings-attached welfare that currently exists.
#3: The SULC believes that the current HSC English syllabus is a politically correct document designed to push a leftist agenda, and condemns attempts to transform the teaching of traditional forms of literature into something whereby cultural relativism and popular culture have usurped spelling, grammar and the classics.
#4: The SULC supports the introduction of an A to E grading system for primary school students as it believes outcomes-based learning does not adequately prepare one for the real world.
