Dollar Sweetie did the full Powerpoint show in the lock-up yesterday – not that Crikey was allowed to see it, of course. The Budget papers are full of charts and tables, too – but here are some that we can’t find. They show household savings, credit and the current account deficit under the Howard Government – self explanatory stuff.
Last night’s Budget is based on optimistic scenarios, but with Australian households deeper in debt than ever before, the government creaming off a record tax take and too much of our current sunny economic position resting on China, you may like to look at these charts if – or when – clouds appear on the horizon.
