Surprised at how everybody suddenly seems to be talking about the need for “debate” on nuclear power?
The AFR
provided some insight when it recently re-published a piece on the
British PR drive to get nuclear power back on the agenda. Unfortunately
the drive coincided with more revelations of yet more safety problems
at the UK Sellafield plant.
But the best source of information on the nuclear lobby’s PR efforts is the US Centre for Media and Democracy which has been chronicling the campaign for the past 12 months or so.
It’s
clear from a brief scrutiny of the issue that the pressure to get
nuclear power on the agenda was the product of a systematic, secretive
campaign.
