News & CA: Seven News again won nationally and in every market but Melbourne, Today Tonight won everywhere bar Melbourne and Brisbane. In Melbourne the 7pm ABC News topped the standings with 406,000 viewers ahead of Nine (391,000) and Seven (364,000). The 7.30 Report averaged 804,000. The Stats: Seven had another big win, courtesy of the tennis. It won with a share of 35.8% from Nine with 23.5%, Ten with 18.3%, the ABC on 13.6% and Top Gear, sorry SBS with 8.9%. Seven won all five metro markets and leads the week 36.1% to 22.6% for Nine and will win the week, even though Nine will have cricket from Thursday onwards. In regional areas Prime/7Qld won with 36.3% from WIN/NBN with 25.5%, Southern cross (Ten) with 17.7%, the ABC with 12.2% and SBS with 8.6%.

Glenn Dyer’s comments: The tennis did the job for Seven last night but with Lleyton Hewitt out of the Open what will viewers do? Roger Federer is the key but if he gets beaten (and he’s looked wonky these past two matches) then the viewers will drop out. Tonight it’s more tennis and not much else. Elsewhere it’s repeats.
