How are the NSW Liberals responding to the upheaval in the state’s political landscape of the past few weeks – other than Opposition Leader John Brogden letting “hair” down in rather exuberant style in front of a room full of journalists (thanks Miranda) in the refurbished Sydney Hilton’s Marble Bar?
The upcoming by-elections in Maroubra and Marrickville created by the resignations of Bob Carr and Andrew Refshauge are proving vexatious. Do the Libs run? By-elections can be unpredictable things. Some pundits will tell you that the Greens have a chance in Marrickville. What can the Libs do to maximise the pain for the government without embarrassing themselves?
Just to complicate matters, state director Graham Jaeschke is under fire from sections of the party. Staff changes at headquarters have left some Liberals unsettled. Plus ça change!
