In terms of the audience’s reaction to last night, it was a thumbs down except for Masterchef Australia which remains in the part of its season where there’s a solid program for viewers to watch on Thursday nights. They did, even in regional markets — nearly 1.5 million national viewers for the program last night, with 370,000 in the regions. Not House Rules figures, but a solid effort for a Thursday night. Seven had another weak night in the metros, third in the main channels behind Nine and Ten. But that was due to weak performances in Sydney and Melbourne. In Brisbane, Adelaide and Perth, Seven was the winner, Nine was weak and Ten did OK.
In the regionals it was a different story with seven a clear winner from Nine and Ten in total people and the main channels. Masterchef Australia’s performance was the only one worth mentioning today. The rest were very average, including The Checkout on ABC1 at 8pm which continues to fade — 973,000 national viewers and just 658,000 in the metros, short of previous series.
