Nine’s night, not many people cared. Nine won the metros, but Seven won the regionals and not even the NRL game on WIN could get Nine home last night. The NRL game (North Queensland v Eastern Suburbs) averaged 678,000 national viewers on Nine and Gem. It averaged 223,000 on Fox Sports 1.

The top five in regional markets were: Home and Away with 426,000; The Chase Australia (5.30pm), 377,000; ABC News, 349,000; Nine News, 334,000; 7.30, 288,000.

Today moved back in front of Sunrise — 356,000 to 285,000 — a very big win and there’s a need for change emerging at the Seven program. Nationally, Today has a rare win, 512,000 to 505,000 viewers for Sunrise. That might be narrow but it is a real sign of just how far Sunrise’s support in metro markets has weakened.
