No The Voice, so Masterchef did well, House Rules perked up, Seven Year Switch ended and the night faded. Seven won the metros and in the regions, thanks to Home and Away, House Rules and Seven Year Switch and another strong night from the news. Nine revealed its programming black hole by bringing us Britain’s Got Talent at 8.30 pm — who cares? 963,000 viewers (including 708,000 metro) did, but that will fade, as it always does for talent quest style programs (Australia’s Got Talent). If Nine had a stronger line up for its main channel, the UK version might have made it later in the evening, or on Go or on Saturday nights.
But Seven’s win, especially in the regions (and therefore nationally) can be seen by the run of programs in the national top 10: Seven News and then the 6.30 part of the News and Today Tonight were one and two, then House Rules (fifth), Seven Year Switch (sixth), Home and Away (7th) dominated the night. Masterchef did well for Ten with 1.381 million national viewers and fourth nationally.
In the regions, it was an all Seven night starting with the news on 614,000, House Rules on 546,000, Home and Away on 509,000; Seven News/Today Tonight, 475,000 and the 5.30pm part of The Chase Australia was fifth with 461,000.
Sky News had a good night on pay TV last night with Alan Jones (60,000), The Bolter (50,000) and Paul Murray (46,000) all doing well with their right wing ravings.
In breakfast, Today with 340,000 metro viewers won from Sunrise with 325,000 and looking tired.
