The Games dominated again Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Seven naturally won last week. It won all day and last night, easily. end of story. The ABC battled away manfully with viewers preferring its non-news and current affairs offerings to those of Nine, and anything on Ten. Seven News topped 2,1 million and day eight of the Games yesterday averaged 1.644 million and the In Rio Tonight segment from 7pm last night averaged 1.644 million.
Seven’s share from 2am to 2am was 50.2% and over 39% in prime time last night. Seven said that so far in the first 9 days of the games, over 16.5 million people have watched the games on Seven, but more than 23.5 million streams have happened: which is also the experience in the US where NBC is reporting a similar situation.
Wallander averaged 890,000 on the ABC at 8.30 pm. 60 Minutes did well for Nine with nearly 1.4 million people.
In regional markets it was Seven News on top with 660,000, Nine News was second with 492,000, then Rio, Day 8 – Day with 465,000, In Rio Today, 464,000 and 60 Minutes on 461,000

The “digital channels” of 7 don’t seem to have got as much of an uplift as I’d expect for the Olympics coverage. Nor has Sunrise.
I hadn’t actually caught much of Sunrise during the Olympics: I assumed it included more live coverage.
