Still no sign of Adler in the Jewish News
Another week has gone by without a mention of disgraced businessman Rodney Adler in The Australian Jewish News. There was a story on the founder of Chadstone shopping centre, John Gandel, who has recently invested just over $18 million in Israel through the Gandel Group, but nothing on Adler’s guilty plea. We suspect this is not a reflection on the paper’s news judgement, but on the fact that the paper is owned by Rodney’s sisters.
Telstra’s PR problems
This Herald Sun story, All hot about T3, is sourced from The Oz and is an amusing read. What miracles does Telstra chairman Donald McGauchie think his spinners can pull? Are Courier-Mail journos not supposed to interview senators? The story says:
It’s that time on Wednesday morning last week and Telstra chairman Donald McGauchie is even hotter – under the collar – venting his fury at Telstra’s public relations flacks and at long-time Queensland Nationals Senator Ron Boswell.
The Victorian sheep and grain farmer has focused on a piece in Brisbane’s daily The Courier-Mail (a sister paper to The Australian). In it, Queensland Nationals Senator-elect Barnaby Joyce expresses concerns that a fully privatised Telstra would be impossible to regulate.
It seems Joyce has hit the nail on the head, effecting a rapid colour rise up McGauchie’s neck and face that underscores the importance which has been placed on this three-day spin around rural Queensland.

Racing hacks and the Gold Coast Bulletin
A colourful Gold Coast racing identity writes:
After years of gossiping at TheCourier-Mail as a racing hack, Peter Cameron has accepted an offer from the Gold Coast Bulletin’s editor Bob Gordon to come on board. Despite the harrowing daily trek from Ipswich to Molendinar, Peter reasoned that the extra bucks on offer from Bob couldn’t be refused.
What Big Bob hasn’t factored in is that Peter Cameron is about as welcome at the Gold Coast Turf Club as the Yanks are in Iraq. Cameron’s pro-Brisbane racing and “stuff the rest of ya” should do wonders for the Bully’s declining weekday sales. What a coup Bob!
