Just a night to lay down and sleep and forget TV. The final Clarke and Dawe appeared last night just before 7pm on ABC TV. It averaged well, I can’t tell you because although it was in the advanced guides, it doesn’t seem to have been coded to appear in the overnight ratings. It was worth the view and the ABC should think seriously (with the permission of the Clarke family) about running a regular vintage series of the best of the program.
Nine won the night — The Footy Show helped with 720,000 national viewers from 8.30pm until around 11pm — 239,000 watched the AFL program in Melbourne. Nine says that’s a season high, which it is, but still a shadow of its former greatness when that figure used to start with a 4 or a 5, in Melbourne!
Regionally, another solid night for Seven with Seven news again top with 658,000 viewers (more than double the Nine/NBN News) with Seven news/Today Tonight second with 520,000. Home and Away was third with 495,000, then the 5.30pm part of The Chase Australia with 441,000, and ACA was fifth with 308,000.
In breakfast, Today with 292,000 had a rare win over Sunrise with 269,000 — that was in the metros. Nationally, Sunrise with 504,000, beat Today with 439,000.
