Nine will want us to know all about the fabulous performance of MAFS last night (it had high figures), but in reality that is a bit of “look over here” to divert attention from the rotten week Today had last week — the worst this year.
Today had 250,000 national and 165,000 metro viewers on Friday — that’s four out of five mornings last week where the metro audience was under 200,000. But things got worse on the weekend. The Monday to Friday show was out-rated by Weekend Today on Saturday. The weekday edition averaged 263,000 nationally and 182,000 in the metros (its second sub-200,000 metro audience in a row after 198,000 the week before). The Saturday edition of the program had 310,000 national and 220,000 metro viewers, the Sunday edition had 282,000 national viewers and 203,000 in the metros. So why not swap hosts? Easy Peasy!
MAFS had its first 2 million plus national audience of the season last night — 2.21 million with a high 1.65 million in the metros and 557,000 in the regions with the mass expulsions and the so-called “intruders”. So how will it go now that the ratbags and cheaters have gone? 60 Minutes was dragged to a new high for the year of 1.44 million nationally by MAFS. In the regions, MAFS won with 557,000, then Seven News with 483,000, Sunday Night with 399,000, 60 Minutes with 368,000 and Nine News with 326,000.

Rubbish talk…. people are not at work Sat Sun so naturally ratings are better than weekdays.

I am very surprised and disappointed in Crikey using that vile American word “cheaters”.in Australia those individuals are called “cheats”, as in “cheats never prosper”.
If MAFS is no. 1 and Insiders is in the top 10, it just shows how god awful the other programs must be. With 99% of soccer now only on FOX, Monday night on ABC is the only night I watch on FTA tv – sure hope the Tour de France is still on SBS this year.
Is Crikey under some sort of contractual obligation to mention MAFS in this segment?
I think we are tolled.
