rn The Winners	rn Nine (28%) had a close win lastrn week over Seven (27.2%). Last night it was a rare Ten win and arn foretaste of what’s to come over the next few weeks as Big Brother windsrn down and Australian Idol warms up. Ten’s Big Brother (1,459 million), Law and Order: Criminal Intent,rn (1.695 million), and NCIS (1.389 million) did the business. Nine was nowhere, while Seven had few winners except the Guiness Worldrn Records which added 300,000 extra viewers last night. The Einstein Factor onrn the ABC at 6:30pm topped the million viewer mark.
rn The Losers	rn rn Nine’s Skating on Thin Ice, a good description ofrn this show’s progress. Viewers are not warming to it. It lost around 190,000 viewersrn from the previous Sunday and was beaten by Guiness World Records and the ABC’s 7pm news. Nine’s 60 Minutes shedrn more than 200,000 viewers from the previous Sunday as well.
rn News & CA	rn Nine News won on Sunday night but it was downhill from there. Seven News and Today Tonight won last week in Sydney and nationally. Most of thern Sunday morning chat shows were off the previous levels. Insiders saw its audience rise nicelyrn to 174,600 people from 125,000 a week earlier. Nine’s Sunday was still thern most popular but at 284,000 viewers, that was well down on thern 329,000 of a week earlier. Seven’s Weekend Sunrise was watched by anrn average of 200,000 people, but that too was sharply down on the 282,000 whorn tuned in seven days earlier. Business Sunday was also lower, down to 141,500rn people (188,000). Inside Business on the ABC (which was full of technicalrn glitches that shouldn’t have been allowed to go to air) saw its audiencern rise to 121,000 from 105,000. Meet The Press on Ten fell to 52,400rn people.
rn The Stats	rn Ten won the night. Nine was second with 26.0%, Sevenrn a distant third on 21.4%, the ABC on 16.6% and SBS on 7.7%.
rn Glenn Dyer’srn comments	rn rn After Seven and Nine battled each other to a haltrn last week with depleted schedules, this week there’s more in the armouryrn (Seven has Desperate Housewivesrn tonight; Nine has McLeod’s Daughtersrn returning Wednesday). At 7:30pm tonight Nine is gambling that historicalrn footage of Bert Newton and friends will do enough until something more long-lasting can be conjured up. Big Brother is still doing well for Ten in itsrn new guise as a morality tale for modern 20 somethings.
