Seven now have the dish to serve on the next ep of Plate Of Origin — turkey — after the show’s audience slumped to 594,000 national viewers last night. That was down 371,000 viewers from Sunday night’s debut.
Safe to say this one will never crack the million viewer level. There is no other way to describe that as anything but a flopperoo in the same style as My Kitchen Rules and House Rules earlier in the year.
So what will Seven do? There are a few million dollars tied up in this disaster — none of which will be recovered from advertisers who can read the ratings as well as anyone else. Some in TV and the media reckon Seven has had a coup in snaffling The Voice from Nine. The performance of Plate Of Origin featuring two former MasterChef judges tells us otherwise. This one will not be back in 2021!
No Kitten, I am heart broken… The Masked Singer wrought me a cruel blow last night — Kitten was revealed as Julia Morris, and 1.11 million watched that atrocity after 955,000 watched the performance. Nine’s Halifax: Retribution had 711,000, down 10% from the 783,000 debut a week earlier.
Seven won total people, but that’s only because the audience for 7mate was boosted by an AFL game. On the main channels it was Nine from Seven and the ABC, which beat Ten and The Masked Singer, which again creamed the demos. The Block continues to worry Nine — 942,000 viewers nationally for a weeknight development episode is not all that confidence-boosting.
In breakfast, Today continues to grow its audience away from the danger zone and is now a clear second. Sunrise had 454,000 national and 259,000 metro viewers, Today had 342,000 and 231,000, and ABC News Breakfast had 310,000 and 197,000.
In regional markets it was Seven News, 588,000; Seven News 6.30, 555,000; Home and Away, 369,000; The Chase Australia 5.30pm 358,000; The 7pm ABC News, 339,000.
