What a dull night. Ten was the only network to take viewers seriously.

Gogglebox Australia was the most watched non-news program, building on the 715,000 who watched The Blondettes battle it out with others in white face.

Seven won (thanks to the big lead from the hour of news from 6 to 7pm which averaged 1.43 million, 300,000 more than Nine’s hour which averaged 1.13 million).

No AFL or NRL makes for a very different night. A Current Affair was back in the national top 10.

This weekend it’s boot, ball, hoof, skirt and tyres: AFL and NRL tonight and tomorrow, Rugby Union Sunday in the second test between the Wannabes and the All Blacks and the Super Netball grand final as well. There’s also the women’s NRL competition which is in its second last round.

The Bathurst 1000 is on Sunday, plus the Caulfield Cup tomorrow. Even though none of these events have happened, just the thought of them is more interesting than what was on TV last night.

In breakfast Today recovered from Wednesday’s sudden slip. Sunrise led with 419,000/241,000 viewers, Today was on 326,000/219,000. ABC News Breakfast averaged 284,000/189,000.

In regional markets Seven News, 488,000; Seven News 6.30, 485,000; Home and Away, 328,000; 7pm ABC News, 312,000; The Chase Australia 5.30pm 288,000.
