Good to see the ABC chief operating officer is tackling the big issues facing the organisation.

The memo below is from an all-staff email that arrived in our in-boxes yesterday. Shame I can’t mark internal addresses as spam but they’ve even barred that!

Colleagues,

At the recent meeting of the Operations Group leadership team, there was considerable discussion on what progress we had made incorporating the ABC Values into the day to day life of our Division. The consensus around the table was that we needed to do more, especially in addressing the challenges presented by the Respect and Integrity values.

So, we decided to make Respect a specific focus for the Operations Group in September.

Consequently, over the next month you will be asked to reflect on the way you behave each day within the ABC, and especially when interacting with your Operations Group colleagues. Do you show them respect? Do they show you respect? Do you treat others with the consideration and dignity that everyone should expect as part of an ABC workplace?

The program will roll out next week and has been titled “Respectember”.

For those of you more comfortable with the digital age than your average member of the Ops Group leadership team, our plans include Twitter, Facebook and other media to help get you thinking about your colleagues, your values and your own behaviour at work.

I encourage you all to join in the spirit of this initiative, and make a difference to the Operations Group and the ABC.
