Information Resources Inc., based in Chicago,
has released its annual US Table Wine Trendsetters Ranking. Each brand
on the list has “experienced significant growth in US supermarkets and drugstores
across multiple variables during the 52-week period ending 20 March 2005.”
The minimum requirement for inclusion in the list is sales
of 100,000 cases a year. Three Australian brands are included: in number one
spot is Yellow Tail made by the Casella family at Yenda in NSW. Next Aussie
brand is Alice White at number 14 – made by Hardy Wine Co for their US owners,
Constellation Brands. In the number 19 spot is Black Swan, made by McGuigan in joint venture with US
company E&J Gallo.
