Couldn’t agree more on biggest threat to Australia. The coalitions mismanagement on Defence and Foreign Affairs is horrendous.
Whitlam was the true pioneer of Medicare, as well as so much else.
Bill Hayden!!!
Labor candidate Jason Scanes correctly sees “Scott Morrison and Peter Dutton” as “the biggest threat to Australia” but offers no reasons. In reality Australia and the World are existentially threatened by (a) nuclear weapons and (b) climate change. Indeed eminent physicist Stephen Hawking has declared ”We see great peril if governments and societies do not take action act NOW [my emphasis] to render nuclear weapons obsolete and to prevent further climate change”.
Lead by Morrison and Dutton, US lackey Australia (a) variously supports US, UK, French and Apartheid Israeli nuclear terrorism (these countries having about 7,300, 250, 300 and 90 nuclear weapons, respectively), refuses to sign the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons (TPNW; Labor will), and via endless pro-war Sinophobic rhetoric, AUKUS, Pine Gap, and hosting nuclear warships has made every Australian city a nuclear target, and (b) ranks worst in the world for climate action policy, is among world leaders in 16 areas of climate criminality, and is responsible for about 5% of global greenhouse gas (GHG) pollution (Domestic plus Exported) despite having only 0.3% of the World’s population – utterly compelling reasons to put the war criminal and climate criminal Coalition last for the security of Australians and the World.
Unfortunately, Jason Scanes is not engaging the Hinkler community on the issues it most needs responses to.
A community, non-partisan, politically non-aligned, local group, called Voices of Hinkler, have a survey for Hinkler residents. From this survey they distilled the top 12 issues that are concerning Hinkler voters. The list of issues was sent to every candidate, asking them to provide policy-based responses to the issues – tell us what you will do about these problems we face.
Mr Scanes responded quite quickly that he would fill in and return the questionnaire, but never did. He has become completely unresponsive; neither returning emails, nor answering calls.
The incumbent, Keith Pitt, also did not fill in the questionnaire, instead sending us a few small paragraphs of campaign text that failed to address all but one of the 12 issues.

A bit one note. Not terribly inspired. :/
