Nine’s Nightline presenter Helen Kapalos has apparently got herself an agent and CEO David Gyngell is furious and has thrown a fit. Other Nine personalities are seeing what happens – if she gets a big pay rise in her contract, how many more agents will arrive?

Conversely they may look at the example of Sharyn Ghidella on the Today show. Ghidella apparently also has an agent, but it didn’t do her any good when she was pushed aside to allow Mrs Gyngell (Leila McKinnon) into the Today show as news reader, relegating Ghidella back to co-hosting 6am to 7am with 2GB’s Chris “flasher” Smith.

The Herald Sun reports that the move “paves the way for the network darling to move into the role of Today host in the future, following her stint filling in for Tracey Grimshaw over the Christmas break,” and adds, “there was no ill-feeling at Nine’s Willoughby bunker over the promotion of ‘the boss’s wife’, rather staff were pleased for McKinnon who has proved herself worthy, a Nine spokesman said”.

Really? Our reports suggest Ghidella was left very unhappy by the move.
